Receiving guests = Gäste empfangen
Am Arbeitsplatz treffen wir manchmal auf ausländische Gäste. Es ist jedoch von großer Bedeutung, dass man mit ihnen auch in der englischen Sprache kommunizieren kann. Schon beim ersten Treffen können wir einen guten Eindruck hinterlassen, deshalb dürfen wir uns keine unnötigen Fehler erlauben. Um diese zu vermeiden, umfasst das folgende Kapitel nützliche Ausdrücke im Englischen, die wir beim Empfangen von Gästen verwenden, wie auch einen praktischen Teil.
1. USEFUL PHRASES = NÜTZLICHE PHRASEN
1.1. Welcoming guests = Wir begrüßen die Gäste
- Good morning! Nice to meet you again. = Guten Morgen! Es ist schön, Sie/dich wiederzutreffen.
- Hello! Did you have any trouble finding us? = Guten Tag! Haben Sie problemlos hierher gefunden?
- Good evening! It’s been a while since we last saw each other. = Guten Abend! Es ist lange her, seitdem wir uns das letzte Mal gesehen haben.
- Let’s go into the office/… = Lassen Sie uns/Lass uns ins Büro/… gehen.
- Not too bad, thank you. = Es geht so. Danke der Nachfrage.
- Fine, thank you. = Gut, danke.
- A bit stressful, but fine, thanks. = Etwas stressig, aber gut. Danke der Nachfrage.

TOM: Well that’s what I’m here for. Let me take your jacket, first.
JIM: Great thanks, but I’ll keep my briefcase with me.
TOM: Of course. Well, as you can see, this is reception. If we go left, you’ll see customer service, but if we go right, we will start in accounting. Which would you prefer?
JIM: Oh that’s up to you, I’m new here, so I’ll have to see everything in good time.
TOM: That’s true. Well let’s start with customer service, then, which should give you a good, quick introduction to our operations.
JIM: Sounds great.

TOM: Mr. Turner, it’s great to make your acquaintance.
JIM: Likewise, Mr. Loew, pleased to meet you, too.
TOM: Where are you flying in from?
JIM: From Munich, as it were, and you?
TOM: My office is in town here, but I’ve been abroad, so I’m just returning from Dubai. That’s why we’ve met at the airport. But no matter, we’ll go straight from here to lunch, so I hope you’re hungry.
JIM: Famished, actually, so that sounds great to me.
TOM: Wonderful, shall we, then?

HOST: No, just a couple of minutes. Did you have any trouble finding us? GUEST: No. I printed a map and there are road signs everywhere, so it was fairly easy to find you.
HOST: Do you have any plans for the evening, once we finish our business.
GUEST: No, not really.
HOST: In that case we are inviting you out for dinner.
GUEST: Great. I am looking forward to it.
